Screening of Diamantes negros (Black Diamonds) at RMIT University.

Film

Join us for the last film of our 2015 series of monthly screenings of Spanish & Latin American cinema at RMIT University.

Screening: Diamantes negros, Miguel Alcantud, 2013, 100 min.

/ Synopsis / Diamantes negros (Black diamonds) tells the long journey undertaken by two young boys from Mali, Amadou and Moussa, who arrive in Spain pursuing the dream of escaping from poverty and becoming professional football players.
The film first takes us to the African heat, the fields of red dust and the atmosphere of music and colour in the villages of the protagonists. From there, we are transported to the cold of Europe, the tedium, loneliness and frustration that comes after a broken dream.
The director worked with non-professional actors from the streets of Bamako, and touches on a raw nerve with this little known subject.
This is Miguel Alcantud’s third full length feature, he is also the creator of the innovative theatre platform “Microteatro por dinero’.

Public Choice Award at the Spanish Film Festival of Málaga 2013.
